Natural Language Processing Scientist

The Natural Language Processing Scientist is responsible for developing a state-of-the-art medical NLP pipeline as part of Pieces Tech’s clinical decision support system. He or she is responsible for the design, development, refinement, and implementation of algorithms for segmentation, lexical analysis, natural language parsing, and conceptual indexing. He or she also works with cutting edge technology and is responsible for exploratory work, improving and innovating, while focusing on delivering the required applications of relevance to Pieces Tech’s NLP goals.  The responsibilities of the Natural Language Processing Scientist include the following:

Responsibilities

  • Designs, builds, and evaluates multi-lingual text analysis algorithms that are accurate, scalable, and production-quality by applying both statistical and rule-based techniques.
  • Articulates, examines, analyzes, summarizes, synthesizes, and develops cross-discipline (analytic, hardware, and software) solutions to clinical and operational problems identified by clinicians and hospital administrators that are prioritized for the organization.
  • Identifies flaws and drawbacks in method design and implementation. Designs novel algorithms for problem solving, which may include data cleaning, feature selection, statistical modeling, data clustering and classification, text processing, and other machine learning algorithms to solve complex healthcare problems presented by healthcare organizations or required in grants obtained by the organization.
  • Leads or collaborates with different functional teams (including physicians, scientists, health services researchers, mathematicians) within Pieces Tech and externally, to find solutions to complicated and challenging problems raised by healthcare organizations or within grant applications.
  • Integrates the NLP pipeline into the production environment and ensures its scalability.
  • Identifies and deploys existing machine learning, natural language processing, and information retrieval techniques and systems for knowledge management and discovery using EMR data including admitting diagnosis, reason for consultation, clinical history & physical notes, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other free text fields.
  • Completes peer-reviewed manuscripts and grants related to specific projects both individually and with a team.
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of Pieces Tech.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of NLP writing by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and actively participating in professional organizations. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the NLP area and Pieces Tech. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal/state/private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.

Sales Intern

An internship with Pieces Technologies an excellent starting point for your career.  You will learn a lot about startups and healthcare and work alongside nationally recognized physician leaders, commercialization executives, and analysts.  You will learn the basics of sales, product development, marketing/branding, and customer success. You will report directly to the Sales Operations Partner, and will be an integral part of the Commercial Operations team.  

We are aware that most interns will also be full-time students, so we will put your education first.  We will work with you to find the right schedule and balance of hours to be successful at both work and school.  We are also interested in mentoring and coaching young minds that are eager to learn about our industry.

Responsibilities

  • Predominantly supporting sales operations initiatives, including Salesforce CRM implementation and optimization.
  • Engaging in research using commercially available healthcare databases, internet search processes, and by directly communicating with clients.
  • Providing support to the team by assisting with the creation, distribution, and execution of materials and processes to promote Pieces Technologies in the marketplace

Sales Representative - Client Services

We’re looking for people-persons & new business rockstars who enjoy working on a cross-functional and highly ambitious team to deliver. The sales representative works with our Client Services team to deliver on clients’ goals, objectives and overall strategic direction. The Sales Representative will and play a primary role in driving revenue for our software & services solutions.

VP of Client Success

The Vice President of Client Success is responsible for controlling and supervising all business affairs of the Client Success department, to provide input on the policies and milestones for Pieces Tech, and to implement procedures and guidelines for the effective day-to-day operations of the department.  The Responsibilities of the Vice President of Client Success include the following:

  • As member of the Pieces Tech senior management team, works with upper management in developing, implementing, monitoring and revising the short and long-term strategic plan and goals that supports the missions and objectives of Pieces Tech. Play a significant role in long-term planning, including geared toward operational excellence.
  • Develops and oversees strategies for ensuring the financial viability of the Client Success team. Monitors departmental budgets to ensure Pieces Tech has the necessary funds to carry out the goals, missions and objectives that have been established by the Pieces Tech Board of Directors. Assists to ensure sufficient fiscal controls are implemented in the operation of capital, income and expenditure processes.
  • Tracks project-specific issues from initiation through release. Independently identifies problems encountered during data release process and troubleshoots these problems. Prepares data analysis reports for project release or update. Works with implementation team to transfer research outcomes and findings to the Pieces system. Ensures proper procedures are implemented in the clinical core area to support maximizing the center’s technical & data analysis.
  • Leads and develops a world-class Client Success Team. Selects, trains, schedules, motivates, supervises, and evaluates employees to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities
  • Inspires client success across the company
  • Identifies, analyzes, and directs the work flow and work process of Pieces Tech’s Client Success team. Implements the necessary changes to increase the team’s effectiveness, productivity, quality and efficiency.
  • Assists senior management in developing, implementing and monitoring quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, compliance initiatives, utilization management operations and benchmark results. Follows through with Managers and other Pieces Tech employees when appropriate.
  • Oversees the operations of the Client Success team and manages its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of hospital administration. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • Acts as the delivery point of contact/head for our Pieces Technology projects for major clients. Ensures end-to-end accountability and delivery of critical Pieces technology product deployments in Hospitals and CBO’s.
  • Instrumental in maximizing client value in their enterprise application investments through the alignment of business objectives with technology solutions.
  • Achieves high quality of service across the client base, meeting agreed upon departmental deliverables and ensures key operational performance metrics are met.
  • Work within and recommend new performance metrics, definition and process to measure key performance indicators.
